The Attempts

I really do have good intentions to complete projects.  I hear all kinds of cool and interesting things that my friends are doing and think I could totally do that.  But I don't want to do just what they are doing I want to do better.  It never happens.

Here are some of my attempts

I wanted to read the Bible in one year.  Went out and got a One Year Bible.  You know the kind that has the Bible broken down into daily reading for you.  It has a little bit of the Old Testament, a little bit of the New Testament, some Proverbs and some Psalms everyday.  The first week I read everyday.  The second week maybe 4 times, but I tried to catch up and read several days at a time.  The next week I had to read the whole weeks worth in one setting cause I forgot.  Then I think another week and a half passed.  Oops, time to catch up again, but it broken down in 4 parts everyday was confusing me.  I kept forgetting which part I was reading and wondering who Mary in the Old Testament was.  Finally in Feb. I gave up.

My on-line friends started a group for 365 photo blogs.  The premise is to take one picture everyday for one year (365 days, get it?), then post the picture on the blog.  It could be more than one picture but at least one. I wanted photos following my kids.  Family and friends that live far away could keep up with the family.    I tried it.  Again did well for one week.  Then took a picture everyday the next week but didn't post them until the end of the week.  It continued this way for 100 days.  I would take the pictures but end up posting a months worth at once.  Finally after 103 days, I gave up.  I tried the next year and thought I would do a 52 blog.  Surely I could post at least once a week, right?  Made it 3 weeks, I gave up.  This year (2010) I tried again.  Didn't even make it a whole week.  Sigh.

At school and church I see these moms who look so put together.  Their hair and makeup always look perfect.  They must have it down to some science.  My look is the "Roll-out-of-bed-realize-we-need-to-be-somewhere-in-15-min-get-everyone-dressed-and-in-the-car-forget-to-comb-my-hair-and-forget-shoes" look.  Its very attractive.  I am just happy I remember to put on pants.  So I decided I was going to learn how to put on make-up.  Went to a Mary Kay party, spent $250 on make-up, still didn't learn how to put it on and don't wear it.  I might put on lip stick if we are going somewhere and if I am feeling really fancy some eye liner.  Still need to figure this out.

Still trying to look nice and feminine, I see some friends that can dress up jeans and a t-shirt by wearing jewelry.  Hey, I can do that right?  I host a jewelry party.  I earn more than $300 worth of jewelry.  Not bad for only have to provide some food and have a party for friends.  Even when we go out to dinner I still forget to wear jewelry.  At least I didn't spend a lot of money on it.

Scrap booking is something I enjoy doing but don't have the time.  I try to go once a month to the crop held by my Creative Memories consultant Cheri.  The books done by the ladies there are spectacular.  I decided that I was going to do a birth-one year book, a one year through 5 year book, a k-8 book and a high school book for each child.  On top of that I was going to do a family album for each year.  It started out alright.  I have a birth-one year book for each of the 5 kids.  A book for 2003, 2004,2005 and part of 2006.  So now I am 4 years behind in the family books, 3 books behind in the kids books.  Not sure how to catch up.  Especially since I took 2 years off from scrapping.

Don't even get me started on all the exercise programs and diets I start and quit after a week or so.

So the purpose of this blog is to chronicle my attempts  and hopefully knowing there are witnesses it will embarrass myself into actually completing something.  And prove I can do something.  Maybe even give some inspiration to other slackers out there to complete their projects.   Feel free to leave feedback and encouragement.
